Using the Pump - More Features

Combination Bolus

The combination bolus combines the features of the

standard and extended bolus, which can be used when

your meal consists of both rapidly and slowly absorbed

carbohydrates, such as pizza. You program a percentage

of the bolus to be delivered immediately, then the

remainder over a programmed period of time.

NOTE: Once you press Deliver to begin delivering a

combination bolus, the pump will wait until the next “3

minute” interval (for example 12:00, 12:03, 12:06, etc.).

All of your programmed meal bolus settings (bolus type

[Grams - Carb or Units - Insulin], maximum bolus and

increment setting - see Meal Bolus in Using the Pump -

Basics, starting on page 44) will be used in the combina-

tion bolus as well.

Warning: To use this feature, you will need to de-

termine the length of time it takes your body to be-

gin using these types of meals as blood glucose. Talk

to your healthcare provider before attempting to use

this feature.

When a combination bolus is in use,

page 2 of the home screen will show

that it is active.
