About the Pump

Personalizing alerts

The pump allows you to set up certain alarms and alerts

the way you prefer. These alerts/alarms are associated

with treatment considerations, personal preference and

safety, and can be personalized uniquely for each user.

Discuss with your healthcare provider what uses and

settings are appropriate for you. All of the settings are

factory preset, so you are not required to change any of

them.

Alert for low cartridge: determines when the pump

alerts you to an almost empty cartridge. Decide how

much insulin should be left when the alert occurs (5 to

50 units). It is factory preset to 20u. (Choosing a higher

number of units will give you more time between the

low cartridge alarm and the empty cartridge alarm.)

Delivery limit alarm: the pump monitors how much

insulin is delivered over an hour, and if you try to

exceed the maximum amount programmed here, it

gives an alarm. Decide, with help from your healthcare

provider, the maximum units that can be delivered over

an hour (1 to 100 units). It is factory preset to 40u.

Glucose reminder: optional alert reminds you to check

your BG level (based on when you last loaded a car-

tridge or delivered a bolus). First, decide if you want a

reminder; then, if Yes, decide when to give it (1 to 5

hours after loading a cartridge or delivering a bolus). It

is factory preset to No (reminder not in use).

Automatic off: this is a feature that causes the pump to

alarm, display a message, and stop insulin delivery if no

keys or buttons are pressed for a specified period of

time. (Using My Treatment Assistant

, you can create a

personalized alarm message which appears should this

alarm occur.) First decide if you want to use the alarm;

then, if Yes, determine a time frame for the alarm to

occur at (1:00 to 24:00 hours). It is factory preset to Off

(alarm not in use).

Display site reminder in menu: optional alert deter-

mines whether a screen is added to the Load menu

allowing you to set a reminder for when it is time to

change your infusion set and access site. It is factory

preset to No (reminder not in use).

Missed meal bolus alerts: missed meal bolus alerts can

be used to remind you about possible missed meal

boluses. You can review or edit missed meal bolus

alerts. On the review screen, a check box (;) appears

next to missed meal bolus alerts that are active. To edit a

missed meal bolus alert, press Edit. Then, decide

whether you want the alert and, if you do, when it
